It is practice policy that all fees are paid in full on the day of your consultation. Payments may be made by cash or EFTPOS. We are able to deposit your Medicare rebate directly into your savings account on the day.

Don’t forget, any out of pocket medical expenses contribute to your Medicare Safety Net.

All Procedures require a Standard Consultation prior to procedure appointment  (at this consultation the fee will be discussed and consent obtained prior to procedure)
Payment Terms

It is practice policy that all accounts are settled in full on the day of your consultation.

Payments may be made by cash, EFTPOS and credit card (Mastercard and Visa card cards accepted). Upon payment of your account, our staff will lodge your claim with Medicare. Provided you have your bank details registered with Medicare, your rebate will be forwarded directly into your nominated bank account within four days. This will overcome the need for you to visit a Medicare office


Patients who fail to attend an appointment may be charged a failure to attend fee of $30 + GST for a single appointment (15mins) or $50 + GST for a double appointment (30mins).

This fee cannot be claimed through Medicare.

Influenza Immunisations
Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for everyone 6 months of age or older.


Those eligible for a free (government-funded) flu shot under the National Immunisation Program include:
  • people 65 years and over
  • people under 5 years of age
  • pregnant women
  • people with medical conditions that increase their risk of influenza
  • all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People from 6 months of age
People who are not eligible for a government-funded vaccine may purchase a private vaccine:
  • A private flu vaccine is $20 at Argyle Medical General Practice
Please note that should you require any other services including a script, you will need to book a separate appointment
After Hours

Argyle Medical General Practice has a collaborative arrangement with the After Hours Doctor at Derwent Park. Therefore, if you need to see a doctor outside our normal surgery hours, please contact;

After your visit, the After Hours Doctors will forward a record of your visit to enable us to update your medical file.

You may also contact Healthdirect on 1800 022 222 which is a free national medical helpline where you will be able to discuss your symptoms with a Registered Nurse who will provide advice.

All patients results require a follow up appointment made at the time of the initial consultation.
You will receive an SMS for a Non Urgent Follow Up appointment with your GP to discuss your results.
Urgent Results
You will be contacted by Clinical Staff and or GP to discuss your results and to arrange an urgent follow up appointment
Patient Feedback

You can provide feedback directly to any of our staff members or lodge a suggestion in the Feedback Box in our Waiting Room.

We take complaints and concerns seriously. You may request to speak directly with the Practice Manager to discuss your concerns, or address your concern in writing to p[email protected] . We will then attempt to resolve your concern within 30 days, in accordance with our complaints procedure.  If you feel your complaint is not resolved adequately through the Argyle Medical General Practice complaints procedures, you have the right to contact the Tasmanian Health Complaints Commissioner by phoning 1800 001 170 or emailing [email protected]

Repeat Prescriptions

To obtain a repeat prescription you must attend an appointment. 

In most cases your doctor needs to see you in order to assess your need for a repeat prescription including taking your blood pressure and that you have been taking your medication correctly. 

In selected cases we may be able to accommodate your request without an appointment. This is at the discretion of the doctor, and you must have been seen by the doctor in the last three months.


There is a $30.00 charge for all scripts written without an appointment which is payable when you collect your prescription.

There are no discounts for concession/pension card holders and there is no Medicare Rebate for this fee.


If you need a referral to a specialist you must attend an appointment for a referral letter.

It is a requirement of all medical practices that we do not provide referrals without a consultation taking place first.

Please be advised that referrals cannot be backdated.

Medical Certificates

All requests for medical certificates require a consultation with your doctor. Argyle Medical General Practice do not issue medical certificates without you attending an appointment with your doctor and we are not permitted to issue certificates retrospectively without a consultation with your doctor. 

At time of booking a consultation please advise reception  if your appointment is to obtain a Medical Certificate only.  

New Patients

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first appointment, as we will need to enter  your information into our medical database prior to your consultation.

You can print and complete the New Patient Registration Form  prior to attending the surgery, if you wish.

We recommend that new patients consider booking a Long Appointment (30 minutes) for their first visit.

If you have a complicated medical history, or would like more than one issue discussed at your appointment, a Long Appointment should be booked.
